Vanson Technology Services, Inc. referred to herein as "Vanson" or "Administrator" acts as the administrator of the Salon Alliance Program on behalf of Kao USA Inc. referred to herein as "Kao" or "Sponsor" Your participation in the Program is governed by the Terms and Conditions, and your use of the Program Site to access the Program ("Program Site") is governed by this Online Privacy Policy Statement.

Vanson respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you elect to share with us through the Site. Vanson resolves to comply with all applicable federal and state laws and regulations as well as evolving industry ethical standards. It should be noted that Vanson provides marketing and advertising services to local, regional, national and international business-to-consumer and business-to-business clients in the capacity of a vendor, agent and host. If you access other parts of www.thesalonalliance.com which are not related to the Program, the Kao USA Inc. Privacy Policy as found at http://www.kaobrands.com/privacy-policy/ will govern. The Program Site This Online Privacy Policy Statement applies solely to the Salon Alliance Rewards Program and to no other websites, products or services.

Information Collection

Personal information is any information that may be used to identify an individual, including, but not limited to: name, email address, postal address, phone number, birth date, etc. Vanson may collect specific personal information when you register with the Program Site for participation in the Program or when you voluntarily submit personal information to Vanson for any other reason.

When visiting the Program Site, you can do so anonymously, unless you have logged in with your username and password, where required. Vanson does not automatically collect personal information. Except as otherwise set forth in this policy, when personal information is collected or requested, you will be informed of the purpose for the request. When and where applicable, we will provide you with the opportunity to opt-in, where we will require your affirmative consent before we use your information for purposes other than the purpose for which it was submitted. These types of opt-in options will be clearly indicated to you using various means. If you choose to provide us with your personal information, Vanson will not sell, transfer or trade your personal information to any third parties for the purpose of marketing non-Vanson services without your explicit permission, except under the limited conditions listed in the Sharing and Disclosure section below.

Vanson may also automatically collect certain non-personal information from you and your computer when you use the Program Site. Vanson will log certain aspects of your visit to the Program Site, such as your IP address and your session ID, your browser type, origination and destination domain, as well as other types of information related to the online user experience which we utilize in determining how you traverse the Program Site. This non-personal information will also be added to aggregate user metrics for the Program Site and is used to improve your future experience with the Program.

Cookies

A cookie is a small data file that websites write to your local computer's hard drive when you visit those websites that use them. This site may or may not use cookies to store visitors' site preferences, record session information such as a user ID, record user-specific information on what pages users access or visit, customize web page content based on visitors' browser type or otherwise facilitate website functionality. Information Usage

Vanson uses information collected from you and your computer for several purposes, both online and offline. Vanson may use information collected from your visit to improve the Program Site and its offerings to you, personalize your interaction with the Program Site, to keep you up to date on the latest announcements, products, and services related to the Program. Additionally, any information you have given us, financial or personal, may be used by the Program Site the Program Administrator to complete transactions for fulfillment of Rewards you may have ordered or received as a Participant in the Salon Alliance Rewards Program.

Vanson reserves the right at all times to monitor your use of the Program Site to ensure compliance with the Program terms and conditions. Vanson also reserves the right to monitor, review, retain and/or disclose any information as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request. Calls to and from the Customer Service Teams (if applicable) may be monitored and/or recorded for training and security purposes.

Sharing and Disclosure

Vanson may share your personal information with our subsidiaries or reputable vendors strictly in accordance with this policy and to fulfill the requested Rewards. All such entities are governed by this privacy policy or are bound by the appropriate confidentiality and data transfer agreements.

Neither Vanson nor Sponsor will share your personal information with another party without your explicit permission except under the following circumstances:

  • When we have your consent;
  • When we need to share your information to provide the Rewards you have requested;
  • When we need to send the information to companies who work on the behalf of Vanson to provide a Reward to you.
    • When it is necessary to do so, Vanson will only send the necessary elements of your personal information which are required to complete the transaction and obtain the Reward.
    • Additionally, in certain circumstances or during specific transactions, use of the Program Site and/or service may also require Vanson to send your information to a partner outside the US for fulfillment or completion.
  • If and when required to do so, we will disclose your personal information to federal, state and local law enforcement officials, to enforce the law, or in urgent circumstances, to protect your personal safety, the safety of others or our websites.
  • We may disclose personal information in connection with an investigation of suspected fraud or a violation of the Program terms and conditions, policies or guidelines.
  • Your personal information may be transferred to a third party in connection with any merger, reorganization or sale of all or a part ofVanson or Sponsor.

Information Security

Access to certain Kao Rewards web pages, services, products and activities may require a username and a password. It is your responsibility to maintain the confidentiality of your username and password information. In certain sections of our website, Vanson may use industry-standard SSL-encryption and secure databases to enhance the security of data transmissions. We also have reasonable security measures in place in our physical facilities to attempt to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of information that we have collected from you at our site.

While Vanson strives to preserve your personal information on our network, due to the inherent security risks of storing and transferring data on the wired or wireless Internet, no network is fail-safe and Vanson cannot guarantee the security of the information you transmit to us. Vanson recommends that you change your password frequently, where applicable, and that you use a secure, up-to-date browser.

Your Information, Your Rights / Opt-Out Requests

At any time, you may request to opt out of any program or email list provided by Vanson, delete your account (where applicable), or any personal information held by Vanson by sending an email to privacy@vansontech.com.

If you would like to review or correct any personal information held by Vanson, you may do so by sending an email to privacy@vansontech.com. We will make reasonable efforts to meet your requests.

In some cases, links to third party websites are provided. These links are provided solely as a convenience to you. If you use these links, you will leave the Program Site. Vanson has not reviewed all of these third party sites, in their entirety, and does not control nor is responsible for any of these sites, their content or their privacy policies. Thus, Vanson does not endorse or make any representation about them, or any information, software, or other products or materials found there, or any results that may be obtained from using them. Communications with Administrator

Except as set forth in any other agreements between you and Administrator that specifically provide otherwise, any communication or material you transmit to us electronically, including any data, questions, comments, suggestions, or the like is, and will be treated as non-confidential and nonproprietary; anything you transmit or post may be used by Sponsor for any purpose, including but not limited to, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast and posting; and you expressly agree that Sponsor is free to use any ideas, concepts, know-how, or techniques contained in any communication you send to Administrator or Sponsor without compensation and for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to, developing, manufacturing and marketing products and services using such information.

Data storage — U.S.A.

The Program Site is maintained and hosted in the United States of America. By using the Program Site from another country, including Canada, you freely and specifically give us your consent to export your personal information to the USA and to store and use it in the USA as specified in this policy.

Safe Harbor Program

Vanson participates in the Safe Harbor Program developed by the U.S. Department of Commerce in conjunction with the European Union member countries. Vanson has certified that we adhere to the Safe Harbor principles as they have been established. As such, if you feel that we have not resolved your privacy issues, you may contact the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) Safe Harbor Dispute Resolution Program, who will mediate your privacy issues with Vanson on your behalf.
